About Us

Formed in 1966, the Rio Grande Valley Chapter IEC, Inc. is a dynamic organization of electrical professionals whose mission is to promote the success of all electrical contractors preferring to remain independent or open shop. The IEC has been instrumental in interacting with local, state, and national officials on legislation that has improved the industry while at the same time making the workplace environment safer. The Board of Directors and the Executive Director strive to keep members apprised of the ever-changing electrical market.

We are one of over 50 chapters across America that provide Independent Electrical Contractors with various services. One of our major services is the training of employees that want to become Journeyman Electricians. Members actively support the education of their apprentices, journeyman, master electricians and those in the industry who use their services. The IEC's commitment to providing a quality workforce is reflected in its training, not only for the apprentice and journeyman, but also through business and management training for the contractors and businessmen. More importantly, they are given skills for a lifelong career and not just a short-term job.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to the success and advancement of our merit shop members and the independent electrical and systems contracting industry.
